The UHC Health Promotion Department is home to many student support services designed to advance the well-being of our students and the UGA Community.
THE FONTAINE CENTER
We provide a comprehensive menu of prevention, early intervention, counseling, and recovery support services for alcohol and other substance misuse and any student impacted by interpersonal violence.
WELL-BEING & PREVENTION PROGRAMS
Including healthy relationships, mental well-being, stress, sleep, wellness coaching, substance misuse prevention, and interpersonal violence prevention.

Mary Lazarro represents both the Nutrition Science department for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, as well as the University Health Center.

Sewing is way more than a household skill! It is an essential outdoor skill that can keep you warm, dry, and bug-free even when your gear malfunctions. Clinic participants will learn basic sewing techniques that can be used to repair tears in bug nets, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, and clothing. 2301 College Station Road, Athens, 30605Need help navigating the grocery store? Take a group guided tour with a nutritionist. Learn skills that will make you more confident in the store and in the kitchen.
How long will grocery store tours take? Grocery store tours will take about an hour to go around and learn about the five main food groups as well as various tip and tricks about shopping for food products.
How do I sign up for a tour? Students will RSVP via Involvement Network. If you cannot attend please cancel your RSVP.
If I have an allergy or health condition related to food? You can include this in your sign up form or ask certain questions during the tour. We also have a clinical dietitian at the health center if you would like more one-on-one help.
Can I grocery shop while on the tour? We ask that you please refrain from personal grocery shopping during the tour, but you are free to shop after the tour has been completed.
How many people can sign up? Grocery store tours are limited to about 10 participants per tour. If one tour is full please sign up for the next one if it works with your schedule.
What about transportation? We will not be providing transportation but the UGA Campus Transit and Athens public transit also has a bus that can take you to the location. Taking the Vet Med bus will take you to the Vet Med building across the street from Kroger. You can also get to Kroger using the Athens Transit bus service – routes 22, 25 and 26 all stop just moments away. Howdy family! Have you ever wanted to go spelunking but were unsure how to find an optimal cave, were worried about getting lost, didn't have gear, etc.? Well not to worry! Join Major Tom and the UGA Outdoor Recreation Program as we explore a cave in the southeast. Caves in the southeast are perfect for experienced spelunkers and beginners alike. They offer large caverns and crouching corridors. Beautiful formations and remnants of the past. Have you ever experienced total darkness? Have you ever sung at the bottom of a waterfall? Have you ever seen a cave tree? You can, and lots more on this trip! Prepare to get muddy on this fantastic day trip. See you soon! Exploring caves in the southeast requires some class 3 scrambling, crawling, and lots of mud. Groups are usually in the cave 4 hours or more depending on pace.
