WELCOME TO HEALTH PROMOTION

The UHC Health Promotion Department is home to many student support services designed to advance the well-being of our students and the UGA Community.

THE FONTAINE CENTER

We provide a comprehensive menu of prevention, early intervention, counseling, and recovery support services for alcohol and other substance misuse and any student impacted by interpersonal violence.

WELL-BEING & PREVENTION PROGRAMS

Including healthy relationships, mental well-being, stress, sleep, wellness coaching, substance misuse prevention, and interpersonal violence prevention.

    This workshop is a 2-part series designed to teach the core processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. At times, our mood takes over and determines how we act. Through this workshop, we will develop skills to take back control of our actions, regardless of how we feel. This workshop is led by Hannah Craswell, LCSW, at the University Health Center.

  • Nourish & Knowledge: Heart Health Workshop

    An in-depth and comprehensive presentation of the resources and supports available to students. This presentation will provide trainees with an understanding of our well-being model and how students can contribute to a community of care by supporting themselves and their peers. Additionally, this presentation covers how to broach difficult or sensitive subjects and how to spot early warning signs that someone is struggling.​

  • Nutrition Kitchen: $5 Cooking Class

    Event Location: University Health Center - Health Promotion/ Fontaine Center

    Learn how to cook a healthy meal with one of the dietitians the University Health Center in the Nutrition Kitchen. FYOS approved!

    Call 706-542-8690 to register. $5 per class for students who have paid the health fee or $10 for non-fees paid students. Only available to UGA students. If you sign-up and do not end up attending the cooking class, you will be charged the class fee. If you cannot attend, please call remove yourself from the list so that another student can participate.

  • Tallulah Gorge Day Hike

    Event Location: Departs from Ramsey Student Center

    Don’t miss the opportunity to explore one of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern U.S. Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep. This park affords a variety of experiences hiking around the rim for incredible views and adventurous trek down into the gorge. Weather permitting we may even be able to swim and slide down some awesome natural water slides so come ready to get wet.

  • Support Dawgs Training: Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)

    QPR is modeled after CPR for the purposes of knowing how to respond to a mental health emergency. It is a 90min sessions that equips you to recognize the signs of suicide and how to respond with resources and supports.
