The Bystander Effect is a phenomenon in which the more people who witness a risky or unsafe situation, the less likely anyone is to intervene. Silence and passivity contribute to the problem.
There are many reasons why people choose not to get involved. Generally, this may include:
Your actions matter! When students are upstanders, they often say that it was the right thing to do and would want someone to intervene and be an upstander to help them if the roles were reversed.
